Transformational Leadership

As a Leader, I have made sense of business opportunities, economic challenges, and evolving technologies to create, modernize, and transform organizations to achieve industry leading performance and embed lasting, beneficial change. 

By looking externally, visioning transformative approaches, and translating these into practical solutions, I have created effective, collaborative organizations that garner credibility and respect while unlocking significant value.

Recent areas of focus include an industry first servitization – Total Expenditure (TOTEX) agreement, Supplier-Led-Solutions, Standardization, and the digital agenda.

Operational Risk

Engineering and project management, is about understanding, objectively analyzing, and making risk-informed decisions. Executive leaders have stated that my strong technical and commercial insight, and intuition on the right solution and direction for the business have left a lasting legacy.

Notable roles include, VP Engineering and HSSE for BP’s North Sea Portfolio and VP Safety and Operational Risk, Upstream, providing independent assurance to the BP Executive Leadership on the Upstream projects’ portfolio.

Engineering and Project Leadership

I have a passion for leadership of complex engineering and major projects.  I am seen as a genuine and approachable leader that naturally engages stakeholders in resolution of challenges and skillfully ensures alignment resulting in high performing teams.

I have broad and deep expertise in; leading and managing engineering in major projects (Engineering Manager, Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli), operations (Engineering Authority, BP North Sea), and in corporate roles (Chief Engineer, Process and Process Safety, BP Upstream). I have effectively led portfolios of mega projects (VP Projects, Americas, North Sea, and Subsea Systems) having a total financial commitment of $23bn and an annual spend of more than $5bn.

Talent Development

Successful leadership is as much about nurturing the next generation of leaders as it is about being a good leader yourself. I have implemented systems to develop deep technical expertise and identify top talent.

I was instrumental in the development of an Engineering Management program in conjunction with University of Manchester and an Engineering Leadership program in conjunction with MIT in Boston.  I am an influential leadership coach and mentor to emerging talent.
